Location
De Pakhuys is set in the midst of a sweeping Cederberg Valley, just over the mountain pass from the town of Clanwilliam. It's about 2.5 ‑ 3 hours from Cape Town, travelling mainly on the N7. You don't need a 4x4 to reach this venue.
Accommodation
All accomodation stands in the heart of this rugged valley and neighbours all nearby activities, such as rock pool swimming and hiking trails. There are a few options for easy accommodation: Huts: The nature‑immersive huts or lodges are equipped with fire places and boast impeccable views of the valley, sandstone rock formations, and Mountain ranges that line the horizon. Cottages: Cosy, colourful homes provide ideal spaces for families and big groups, adorned with funky decor and equipped with all necessary living arrangements. Cabins: There are comfortable wooden cabins nestled in the heart of the forest area. These are simple, easy lodgings for those on the go adventurerers. Camping: Take a walk on the wild side and sleep under the stars at of the many rustic yet serene camping spots set between sandstone boulders and caves and towering leafy canopies. First come first serve and communal bathrooms are available.
Activities: Rock Climbing
If you're an avid, beginner, or expert rock climber or boulderer, then this is the prime location for you. Sandstone rugged cliffs, craggy outcrops, and chipped boulders pepper the valley, all beckoning to the thrill seeking rock climber. There are numerous bouldering and climbing spaces, most marked out and closely located to the accomodation area. You can purchase certain climbing gear at the reception, such as chalk bags.
Activities: Hiking
There's no better way to fully immerse and explore this wonderous mountain realm then embarking on a hike. There are myraid hiking routes that snake through the valley. Be sure to stick to the path, signs, and stone balancing emblems that blaze the way home.
Activities: Waterfall Chasing
About 4 kilometres away from the main camping site sits a welcoming oasis. Water folds over and cascades down the rugged slopes to create an awe‑inspiring site. After the rainfalls, you'll be able to fully submerge yourself in the depth of the mountain water rock pools that form just below the waterfalls.
